About Taiwan Quest

Taiwan Quest is a blog about my experience moving from New Zealand to Taiwan.

My first post outlines why I made the move.

I’m based in Kaohsiung, a city of 2.7 million in southern Taiwan. Since arriving in January, my day-to-day experiences have met and exceeded my expectations. Kaohsiung’s sunny, creative, relaxed vibe feels like a good fit.

I’m working on a start-up venture (launching soon), and studying Chinese part-time. If my business is successful, I can renew my visa in 2025 and apply for permanent residency in 2026.

If not, I’ll work on Plan B. I definitely want to stay.
