I like to be humor

Understanding my first joke in Chinese…

A night-time street photo of an intersection in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A 7-Eleven is clearly visible across the street.

On my way home tonight, I stopped at 7-Eleven to buy some water. The cashier was an older guy, around age 55.

Except where noted, the following conversation took place in Chinese.

My lines are on the left:

🙂
Can I use Apple Pay?
We have Orange Pay.

🧐
Sorry, I missed that.
🧐
What did you say?
We have Orange Pay.

Banana Pay.
👨‍💼
Pear Pay.
👨‍💼
Also Apple Pay!
👨‍💼
🤣
Ohhhhh, I do not have Orange Pay.
🤣
I only have Apple Pay!
OK, you can use Apple Pay!

In English:
Do I have humor?

🤩
You do!
🤩
You are awesome.

Thank you, goodbye!

😄
Thank you, goodbye!

It wasn’t the best joke.

But it was the first one I heard—and understood—in Chinese.

This feels like a moment.

And besides, I like to be humor!
